James Mitchell was born in Bristol shortly after the War (because he wanted to be near his mother who was living there at the time)! However, he is very proud of a strong Welsh ancestry. After doing all the usual things for aspiring performers such as head choirboy and landing leading roles in school plays and musicals, he became the youngest member of the BBC West of England Singers. He has appeared in many operas including Don Giovanni, Marriage of Figaro, La Traviata, etc. but thinks his most strange performance was as a dumb eunuch in a strange performance of Il Seraglio. Later, James became passionately interested in Musical Theatre and has appeared in many well known Musicals and Operettas including South Pacific, Oklahoma, The Merry Widow, etc. This interest led him, in the mid 1990's, to become a lecturer and speaker on Musical Theatre.
