Geoff Druett

Geoff Druett - broadcaster and political journalist

Geoff Druett has worked in television since 1966, writing and presenting a wide range of education, news, current affairs and documentary programmes.

As a political journalist he has broadcast regularly from Westminster and the European Parliament and has interviewed every Prime Minister since Harold Wilson (who's security guards once pulled their guns on him!)

As a documentary maker he has worked on projects for ITV and Channel 4. Assignments have taken him to Africa, India, Northern Ireland, Bosnia, Romania and the Barents Sea north of the Arctic circle for a series on Humberside's distant water fishermen.

Away from television Geoff Druett has devised and presented numerous words and music entertainments and works regularly with members of Opera North.

He is much in demand as a lecturer and speaker and is equally at home with anecdotal after dinner/lunch club talks and more formal lectures with Q/A and video clips if required on broadcasting issues.

This year he has a number of engagements to present an evening entertainment he has devised entitled "A Rogues life in Television". This is a light hearted account of some of the mishaps and hair raising moments which have befallen him as a broadcaster, interspersed by musical interludes performed by members of Opera North.
