Victorian Gleesome - Grange and Strange
Shropshire
Lieut.Colonel Duncan Beat LVO,OSt.JARCM

Queen Victoria portrayed by Sylvia Strange – historical re-enactor. Within the refined atmosphere of the Ladies Luncheon Club, Her Majesty feels confident to reminisce: the loneliness of her childhood; her adoration of Albert; her abhorrence of breast feeding; the men in her life. She aims to impart facts, fantasy and fun, questions are welcomed – but a word of warning – tread carefully, if mentioning a certain Mr B!

After spending 10 years portraying Her Majesty, I admit to being more intrigued than ever, by this formidable, honest, caring, exasperating woman – who contrary to popular myth was often very much amused.

National Trust have indulged the Queen's passion for Mr Disraeli at Hughenden Manor, Buckinghamshire, and Hilton Hotels have flown them to Balmoral to meet the Clans!

Their costumes are stunning. The Queen's regalia absolutely accurate in every detail. Wherever and whenever they appear people have an uncanny feeling that royalty really have crossed their path. Sylvia and Jean met as antique dealers. A totally unexpected unrealistic challenge propelled them into the unpredictable, exhilarating but unknown world of the theatre.
