In 1997 Sue and
Victoria Riches were part on the world record breaking first all women's
relay expedition to the North Pole. They have since developed various
talks, from beating the odds achieving the inmpossible or the general
focus on the expedition itself. Victoria specialises in motivational
and team building lectures. Sue, having had breast cancer, decided to
'seize life by the nape of the neck and shake it as much as possible'.
Their talks give a different perspective on the previously all male preserve of polar adventure, and show women can survive as well as men and keep their sense of humour, as well as showing that a mother and grown up daughter can spend weeks in an icy wilderness and remain friends. They will take you to the most beautiful place on earth, an unspoilt wilderness, and then you can experience the fear, vulnerability, isolation and an overwhelming feeling of insignificance. It is an Alice in Wonderland world with no maps, where what is ahead is a mystery, and what is behind no longer exists. |

Since then they have written a book Frigid Women. Dawn French's foreword says that 'this story is a fantastic celebration of adventure, courage, friendship and love. Enjoy it all you would be adventurers...and dream on!' Topics:- Achievement
