Mary Symons is an authority on many aspects of Japanese lifestyle and culture, including Ikebana (Japanese floral art) and the Tea Ceremony.

She is an experienced cruise line guest presenter and conference speaker covering a wide range of topics on Japanese lifestyle, and inspirational talks for business start-ups. This has provided an opportunity to meet British Royal Family and Japanese dignitaries who have shown considerable interest in the promotion of their culture. Mary offers a view of life, in  particular that of Japan, still unknown to many. Her aim is to fill a gap in the current broadcasting market for women in presenting travelogues to a wider and more mature audience.

Mary travelled extensively throughout Japan and the Far East living with host families to experience their way of life and culture. As an entrepreneur she is the only known person to have set up a commercial enterprise specialising in everlasting Ikebana. The company is Kyoto Designs based on the south coast of the United Kingdom.
